Accessibility

We are committed to ongoing improvements to ensure that the Clinical Knowledge Summaries (CKS) website is accessible to all users.

If you experience any difficulty in accessing content on the CKS website, we can provide assistance to meet your needs. Please contact us by email, or telephone +44 (0)191 243 6100.

Accessibility and your computer system

  • The BBC together with Abilitynet has published a website which explains changes you can make to your computer system to make it more accessible. See www.bbc.co.uk/accessibility.
  • Microsoft publishes detailed information on changes you can make to a Windows system. See www.microsoft.com/enable.
  • Apple publishes detailed information on changes you can make to a Mac system. See www.apple.com/accessibility.

Accessibility and your web browser

Your web browser software includes settings which can make most web pages you view easier to read. For example, settings relating to text size and colour, background colour, and the inclusion of images and other add-ons can be changed.

The following websites include information on how to set up your web browser to suit you.

Accessibility and PDF documents

Some content on the Clinical Knowledge Summaries website is available in Adobe PDF format. PDF content is always introduced in-text.

To view PDF files you can download the Adobe Acrobat Reader software which is free, from the Adobe website at www.adobe.com/uk.

The Adobe website also includes further information about accessibility options in Adobe Acrobat. For example, you can magnify PDF content using the toolbar buttons in the Adobe Acrobat application.

Viewing clinical topics on a single page

When accessing CKS clinical topics, you can view the whole topic on a single page, rather than using the navigation options in the 'Section outline' area.

Select any clinical topic, and underneath the navigator on the left of the screen, click 'View whole topic'.

For further help on browsing the CKS clinical topic structure, see Browsing CKS content.
