Breast pain - cyclical - Evidence
Evidence on the use of well-fitting bra
- CKS found no relevant controlled clinical trials of the use of brassieres for the treatment of breast pain.
- A case series (n = 114) studied the use of a well-fitting, cantilevered (weight distributed mainly to the back and not to the shoulder straps) bra for women with breast pain [Wilson and Sellwood, 1976]. Use of the bra was reported to give complete relief in about a quarter of the women, and partial relief in almost half.
