NICE remains committed to providing a replacement service for CKS and is currently reviewing its options. In the meantime, although CKS content is now not being maintained, it still remains relevant and will continue to be made available. CKS content was generated under a programme of topic creation and update. Other factors that indicate admission

  • The CRB-65 system should not be used to replace clinical judgement in deciding if a person should be admitted. Other factors should also be considered in making the decision. These include:

    • Their social support.
    • Pre-existing conditions.
    • Pregnancy.
    • General frailty.
  • Clinical features of underlying lung cancer include:
    • Hemoptysis.
    • Weight loss.
    • Voice hoarseness.
    • Finger clubbing.
    • Cervical and/or supraclavicular lymphadenopathy.
    • Features suggestive of metastasis.
  • For further information on assessment and management of people with suspected lung cancer, see the CKS topic on Lung cancer - suspected.
