Proven gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) refers to people who have endoscopically determined oesophagitis or endoscopy-negative reflux disease.
- Oesophagitis — predominant symptoms of reflux and endoscopy reveals oesophageal mucosal breaks.
- Endoscopy-negative reflux disease — predominant symptoms of reflux but endoscopy is normal.
