Apply a small amount of ointment to the affected area when required for pain relief.

Patient information: Dab the ointment onto the lesion(s), do not rub it in. Wash your hands after applying the ointment. Do not share this ointment with others as this may spread infection. Do not use this ointment for half an hour before eating or drinking. (It can numb the throat, leading to choking on food or drink.)
