This CKS topic incorporates recommendations from the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence guidance Hypertension in pregnancy: the management of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy [National Collaborating Centre for Women's and Children's Health, 2010]. The guidance also covers the detection and management of proteinuria in pregnancy and is based on the Pre-eclampsia community guideline [PRECOG, 2004a].

This CKS topic does not cover the detailed management of hypertension in pregnancy in secondary care.
