This CKS topic is based on the Department of Health publication Immunisation against infectious disease, commonly referred to as 'Green Book' [DH, 2006c], and its accompanying supplement Health information for overseas travel, commonly known as the 'Yellow Book' [NaTHNaC, 2010b]. This CKS topic covers the use of vaccinations required or recommended for travel overseas. The following vaccinations are covered: typhoid fever, tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, yellow fever, meningococcal meningitis, poliomyelitis, rabies, Japanese encephalitis, tick-borne encephalitis, and cholera.

This CKS topic does not cover other vaccinations available on the childhood vaccination programme. This CKS topic does not give advice on the management of anaphylaxis following vaccination.
