When is typhoid fever vaccine contraindicated?

  • Do not give inactivated typhoid vaccine if the person:
    • Has a current severe febrile illness.
    • Has had a confirmed anaphylactic reaction to a previous dose of typhoid vaccine.
    • Has had a confirmed anaphylactic reaction to neomycin (present in trace amount in Hepatyrix® and ViATIM® vaccines).
