Immunizations - travel vaccinations - Management
When is proof of yellow fever vaccination required?

  • Proof of vaccination (International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis) maybe required for travellers coming from countries where yellow fever occurs, including transit through such countries.
  • For a full list of countries that require a valid certificate see the WHO website, http://whqlibdoc.who.int (pdf).
Basis for recommendation
  • These recommendations are based on information from the Department of Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) [DH, 2006c].
  • Countries that require proof of vaccination may be those who are susceptible to introduction of the yellow fever virus. Consequently, any importation of the virus by an infected traveller could result in its establishment and propagation in the local mosquitoes and primates, leading to a risk of infection for the human population.
