Lyme disease - Evidence
Supporting evidence

  • CKS has considered the evidence on antibiotic treatment for adults and children with erythema migrans.
  • CKS has not considered the evidence on the treatment of people with neurological, rheumatological, cardiac, or other skin involvement because these people are likely to require specialist assessment (to exclude other causes of symptoms and signs), specialist investigations (such as lumbar puncture), or secondary care management (such as continuous monitoring for people with cardiac involvement, or intravenous antibiotics).
  • Systematic reviews and subsequent randomized controlled trials have been considered for inclusion.
