- This is the fifth Annual Evidence Update on Acne Vulgaris produced by NHS Evidence - skin disorders, with the results of a search for new guidelines and systematic reviews on acne published or indexed since the last Annual Evidence Update in March 2010.
- There is also a "what's new" analysis by Dr Rosalind Gait and Professor Hywel Williams, discussing the new evidence and its implications for clinical practice.
Dysmenorrhoea and endometriosis: 28th February - 4th March

- NHS Evidence - women's health will launch its next Annual Evidence Update (AEU) on Monday 28 February. Focusing on both endometriosis and dysmenorrhoea, the AEU aims to provide clinicians with the latest evidence on the management of these two conditions.
- We know it is very difficult for busy health professionals to keep up-to-date with the huge volume of literature that is published each year and so the specialist collections are here to do this for you.
Prostate cancer 7th - 11th March

This is the sixth Annual Evidence Update on Prostate Cancer to be produced by the Cancer Specialist Collection. This year, the Kidney Diseases And Male Urogenital Disorders Specialist Collection team have collaborated with the Cancer Specialist Collection team to search for and appraise the evidence published since March 2010. Hearing disorders 14th - 18th March

- Research on hearing disorders continues to proliferate and this evidence update will present a concise summary of the latest guidance and systematic reviews, combined with a list of current therapeutic uncertainties to prioritise future research. Multiple databases have been searched to capture all emerging evidence for the period January-December 2010.
Critical illness rehabilitation 14th - 18th March
From NHS Evidence - surgery, anaesthesia, perioperative and critical care
- This update reviews evidence published between December 2009 and December 2010, using the NICE Guideline ‘Rehabilitation after critical illness’ (CG083) as its reference document. It covers the physical and non-physical consequences of critical illness including muscle weakness, anxiety and cognitive impairment. The evidence will be accompanied by peer-reviewed expert commentaries.
Retinal vein occlusions 14th - 18th March

- NHS Evidence – eyes and vision are pleased to present the Retinal Vein Occlusions Annual Evidence Update (AEU) during the week commencing 14 March. The update looks at new evidence that has emerged since the 2010 AEU, for which guidance from NICE and the February 2009 interim guidance from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists formed the benchmark.
- In December 2010 the Royal College of Ophthalmologists issued revised Interim Guidelines for Management of Retinal Vein Occlusion, with methodological advice provided by the Eyes and Vision Specialist Collection Management Team. In 2010 NICE issued NICE Interventional Procedure Guidance IPG334. Arteriovenous crossing sheathotomy for branch retinal vein occlusion.
- The update is restricted to systematic reviews and randomised controlled trials (RCTs). The RCTs of note concerning the treatment of macular oedema in retinal vein occlusion are the SCORE, CRUISE, BRAVO and OZURDEX studies.
Inflammatory bowel disease 21st - 25th March

- The fifth Annual Evidence Update (AEU) on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) will present the results of the Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases Project Team’s systematic search to update the results of the 2010 AEU. As in previous years, guidelines, systematic reviews, health technology assessments and economic evaluations retrieved have been read and appraised for their validity and relevance to the busy clinician by leading IBD experts from around the UK. A list of the papers deemed worthy of inclusion, along with expert commentaries by our reviewers, will be freely available on the site at www.library.nhs.uk/gastroliver from 21 March. Chest pain of recent onset: assessment and investigation of recent onset chest pain/discomfort of suspected cardiac origin 21st - 25th March

- This year's update on chest pain is linked directly to the NICE guideline published last year. The NHS Evidence - cardiovascular team, based at the University of Surrey, have undertaken detailed searches and critical appraisal of new systematic reviews and randomised trials covering the spectrum from assessment to early management of this common condition. The findings have been put into clinical context by expert reviewers from emergency medicine, cardiology, cardiovascular imaging and nursing.
Multiple Sclerosis 28th March - 1st April

- The Neurological Conditions Specialist Collection Project Team has carried out a systematic literature search on Multiple Sclerosis (MS) to identify all high level evidence published since the date of the last Multiple Sclerosis Annual Evidence Update (AEU) in March 2010, including guidelines, systematic reviews, health technology assessments and economic evaluations. Leading MS experts from around the UK have read and appraised these for their validity and relevance to the busy clinician.
